Recent News HeartShare is Reaccredited by COA

The Council on Accreditation (COA) recently announced that HeartShare has met its standards of review and is reaccredited for four years. COA is an international, independent not-for-profit accrediting body that was established in 1977. The COA accreditation attests that HeartShare meets the highest national standards and is delivering the best quality services to the community.

COA's mission promotes best-practice standards, champions quality services for children, youth and families, and advocates for the value of accreditation. This process includes a review of organizational standards, including human resources, financial and risk management, and continuous quality improvement as well as 39 service standards. This is the first time that COA set standards for organizations that provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

HeartShare received its first accreditation in 1995 and has been reaccredited ever since. HeartShare is proud to be part of COA's Community of Excellence that includes more than 1,000 private and public organizations that serve over 6,000,000 children, individuals and families in the United States and Canada.
