Recent News Events Help to Raise Money for HeartShare
This spring, runners, golfers and Cyclones came together to raise money for HeartShare's programs that provide vital services to 17,000 New Yorkers. It began on May 20th when runners laced up their shoes for the 27th Annual Buckley's - Kennedy's 5K Charity Run in Riis Park, Queens.
More than 625 runners participated in this annual run, this time held entirely within Riis Park. Following the run was a Family Fun Day Picnic with food, drinks, pee wee races, and live entertainment. At days end, $90,000 was raised for HeartShare.
The Colonia Country Club hosted HeartShare's 6th Annual Golf Classic on June 12. Following breakfast, 92 golfers hit the links to see who was the best, as well as try to win a new car with a hole-in-one contest. After a great day on the course, what better way to end than with a fabulous dinner with raffles and prizes. The event was very successful and raised $88,000.
Most recently, HeartShare Day was celebrated at KeySpan Park as the Brooklyn Cyclones battled the Hudson Valley Renegades on June 24. For each person who mentioned HeartShare when buying a ticket, the agency received a portion of the ticket price. HeartShare Board Chairman Ralph A. Subbiondo purchased a package at a previous HeartShare event which provided him with 25 tickets and the special opportunity to throw out the first pitch of the game. Mr. Subbiondo invited the adults with developmental disabilities who live in HeartShare's Subbiondo and 35th Avenue Residences to be his guests. Additionally, thousands of people in attendance learned about the vital services that HeartShare provides every day.
HeartShare is grateful to all who participated in or supported one of these events this summer. This October, golfers will have another chance to go for par at the Annual Buckley's & Kennedy's Golf Outing in Brooklyn, and who will not want to attend the 19th Annual Tree Festival in December?
