OUR PROGRAMS: Care & Share

Care & Share was founded by National Grid in 1981 to help low-income families and individuals with elevated bills meet their monthly payments. This year, HeartShare Human Services of New York was asked to administer the fund. Together, HeartShare and National Grid will assist hundreds of families each heating season, which starts January 2, 2014.

Help Your Neighbors

We kindly ask for your help to provide assistance to your neighbors in need by contributing a donation to the Care & Share Energy Fund Program. The program helps HEAP eligible customers pay their National Grid bills when no other assistance is available. Every dollar contributed goes directly to help a family in need and will make a difference for those who desperately need help to stay warm.

If you would like to help someone in need this winter, make a tax-deductible donation to Care and Share, visit our online donation form or mail a check, made payable to Care and Share Energy Fund, to:

    The Care & Share Energy Fund began accepting applications on January 2, 2014.

  • What areas are covered by the fund?

    Care & Share covers 37 counties in upstate New York.

  • Who is eligible for Care & Share?

    All applicants who fall within the HEAP income guidelines qualify for the fund.

  • Where can I apply for the heating fund?

    You may apply at one of the locations listed. You must call for an appointment first!

  • Can I apply for HEAP and Care & Share?

    All applicants for Care & Share must apply and exhaust all HEAP benefits before applying for Care & Share
