HeartShare assists individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities and provides vital services to children and families.
Our Programs: Residential Services
HeartShare's network of group homes and supported apartments located throughout New York City are home to more than 230 adults with developmental disabilities. We serve people with varying levels of developmental disabilities, including those who are medically fragile and/or use wheelchairs. Our well-trained and friendly staff supports our residents in leading a lifestyle of dignity and maximum independence in a secure and nurturing environment.
In May, 2011 HeartShare opened two new residences for children with autism spectrum disorders. Located in Brooklyn, NY, these residences are each home to seven boys and seven girls who attend The HeartShare School.
From 2007 to 2009, HeartShare participated in a two-year program with the New York City Resource Consortium. As a Consortium agency, HeartShare's Project CHOICE created 15 housing opportunities and supports crafted around the desires of the individuals. For more information, click Project CHOICE .
