Our Programs: Project CHOICE

HeartShare is pleased to announce a new program called Project CHOICE (Creating Housing Options for Individuals in Challenging Environments). This exciting program will provide housing and housing supports for 15 individuals that meet their unique needs, wants and lifestyle choices, utilizing innovative service models that result in a high degree of personal satisfaction.

Project CHOICE's customized opportunities will be small, residential environments-either living on one's own or with a roommate, spouse or caregiver-in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. Project CHOICE is all about choice for individuals with developmental disabilities who are single, married or have a child they are caring for. Project CHOICE is unique in offering a higher degree of independence and customization than traditional residential models.

Project CHOICE is a partnership effort with the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities' New York City Resource Consortium project.
