Help Save P.S. 102 One World After School Program
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has proposed closing 50% of after school programs in New York City, one of which is HeartShare's P.S. 102 One World After School Program. HeartShare's program provides more than 250 children ages 7 to 13 with a safe place to go after school where they complete their homework before participating in recreational and social activities. Closing this program would be devastating to the children and their parents who are not able to afford private programs.
On Friday, May 11, 2012, the students, parents, staff, and local elected officials held a rally to tell Mayor Bloomberg that these cuts are not acceptable and children need safe places to go after school.
What Can You Do to Help?
If you would like to show your support and help keep HeartShare's P.S. 102 One World After School Program open, please sign the online petition.
You can also call 311 and ask to be connected to Mayor Bloomberg's office or email him. Urge him to restore these cuts and to fully fund HeartShare's P.S. 102 One World After School Program.
