For over 150 years, Heartshare has been a bedrock of the New York City community. We began in Brooklyn, but now have program sites across Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. Our programs and services extend into Manhattan and the Bronx. Every corner of the City is touched by the people of Heartshare. We are New Yorkers through and through. And because of that, we not only take care of those we support, but we also pride ourselves in caring for our staff. SUPPORTING TWO KEY POPULATIONS

We support two specific populations across all of New York City: children and adults with developmental disabilities, and children and families dealing with the trauma associated with family separation. Each population faces its own distinct set of challenges and obstacles — and we are set up accordingly to meet them with understanding, evidence-based solutions, and interconnected programming. Our back office positions support both focus areas, while our program-based roles are specialized according to the population served.

Our Management Training Program (MTP) is one such tool for fostering growth in new managers across the organization. For over 15 years, the program has helped create the next wave of leaders within the agency. Workplace Culture

Heartshare is a trauma-informed agency that truly cares about the well-being of the individuals we support and those we employ. We prioritize work-life balance and continue to develop processes and systems that help ensure staff not only provide support but also receive it.

We are a place that promotes conversation and transparency. Monthly agency-wide town halls with executive leadership provide opportunities for sharing updates and discussing upcoming decisions. Smaller, more intimate listening sessions enable open dialogue and discussion on how to better support staff — especially those on the front lines.

Heartshare is also a place that celebrates. This work can be taxing.
