Primary care for children and adolescents in care.

The Pediatric and Adolescent Health Center (PAHC) is an Article 29-i primary care health center for children and adolescents currently in foster care.
The PAHC provides all the primary care services you would find at a private primary care office in the community. Our providers are specifically trained to serve children in the foster care system, bringing not only medical expertise but also understanding and compassion. The center's formal role is to identify medical needs and conduct lab assessments as required by the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS).
Services include wellness check-ups, school physicals, sick visits, telehealth, vaccinations, blood work, developmental screenings, and medication management. We work closely with State Street Healing and Heartshare St. Vincent's Family Services' mental health clinic, making referrals for children and adolescents. All our services are covered by the medical insurance your child obtains while in foster care and are provided at no cost to you.
The PAHC serves children from ages 0 to 21 years old who are in the foster care system. Once a patient is discharged through adoption or returns to their biological parents, they can continue to receive our services for up to one year. Young infants in foster care are required to be seen once a month for the first six months, and after the age of two, they are required to be seen every six months until the age of six years. Older children can be seen once a year.
PAHC strives to be a comprehensive medical resource for our children and families. Our center serves children with specific medical and psychological needs who may have not received the necessary individualized care in their previous environment. Our goal is to provide individualized medical care tailored to each child’s unique needs.
