HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS) launched a campaign to recruit employees as foster parents.

“Our agency is filled with compassionate and dedicated people. Who better than to become our foster parents?” posed Shivon Roach, HSVS Director of Foster Parent Recruitment.

Employees of HeartShare and its Developmental Disabilities Services affiliates, The HeartShare School and HeartShare Wellness, received postcards with more information on how to start the process.

“It’s inspiring to see employees from throughout the agency step up because in addition to the outstanding job they already do in their daily work, they want to make a difference in the life of a child,” noted Dawn Saffayeh, HSVS Executive Director. Due to conflict of interest, HSVS employees cannot serve as foster parents within the agency.

“I’m thrilled when someone working in Developmental Disabilities Services asks me more about becoming a foster parent or a supportive adult to an older youth in care. With this campaign, we’re trying to harness existing enthusiasm and compassion within our community,” Saffayeh added.

For those who are interested, eligible foster parents:

• Receive a stipend to provide for the needs of each child
• Medical, dental and mental health services for each child
• Training and support groups
• 24/7 assistance from dedicated HSVS staff in case of an emergency
