Stanley Capela, HeartShare Vice President for Quality Management and Corporate Compliance Officer, will present at the prestigious American Evaluation Association (AEA) International Conference on Program Evaluation in Chicago this November 2015.

The presentation will explore HeartShare’s Performance and Quality Improvement Standards or PQI plan, which was developed through the agency’s work with the Council on Accreditation (COA). The PQI plan leverages data to achieve program goals, as well as staff and program participant satisfaction. The expert lecture is titled, “Designing a Performance Quality Improvement System That Combines Compliance, Quality Assurance and Performance Measurement to Meet the Needs of a Large Multi Service Non-Profit.”

Former President of the American Evaluation Association and program evaluation consultant Michael Patton encouraged Capela to submit his proposal, which ultimately was selected among 2,500 applications from a wide range of countries. “Stan Capela has led a team at HeartShare that ensures we are providing the highest quality services to the over 42,200 children, adults and families in our care. I’m incredibly proud that the best practices we abide by at HeartShare will serve to inform non-profit practitioners globally at this conference,” said HeartShare President and CEO Bill Guarinello.

Capela, who has conducted COA site visits and presented papers in 35 states and four countries, also is a co-chair to the AEA’s Internal Evaluation TIG, a forum for networking, community building, learning and professional development for those interested in internal evaluation across the public and private sectors. Stan Capela has served in an evaluator position at HeartShare for nearly 30 years and has been working in the human services field since 1978.

“HeartShare rigorously and continuously evaluates its over 100 program sites across New York City, but the accreditation process takes organizational self-assessment to another level,” noted Capela in regard to developing the PQI. HeartShare recently announced its 20th consecutive year of certification from the independent, international Council on Accreditation.
