Several HeartShare cohorts have graduated from the NYC Training Collaborative, which trains managerial and supervisory staff in the human services field.

The New York City Training Collaborative, which includes HeartShare, United Cerebral Palsy of New York and Services for the Underserved, has been recognized with NYSACRA’s 2017 Excellence Award.

The New York State Association of Community and Residential Agency (NYSACRA), in collaboration with The Direct Support Professional Alliance of New York State (DSPANYS), issues the Annual Excellence Award to those persons or organizations providing a service that represents and exemplifies dedication, advocacy, excellence and the values and philosophy.

The award is given out in the categories of Workforce, Person Centered Values, Advocacy and, the Arts; The Collaborative was one of two award recipients. HeartShare is proud to represent The Collaborative in receiving the award at the NYSACRA Annual Conference banquet at the Sagamore Hotel.

To be recognized for this award, an organization must be in a direct support position such as a residential program, in home residential habilitation, day habilitation, or similar direct service program. They must also demonstrate a commitment to improving the lives of the people with developmental disabilities and, that commitment must have a visible, important impact on fostering a creative, active, collaborative service environment and achieving positive outcomes for the people served.

HeartShare, as part of the New York City Training Collaborative, developed and continues to improve a series of trainings for its managerial and supervisory staff. From enhancing medical care and safety to helping a person with a disability achieve personally meaningful life goals, those trainings provide the basis for the highest quality of services possible for those in HeartShare’s care.

Additionally, as an agency-wide philosophy, HeartShare routinely invests in employee growth and retention, including its Management Training Program for employees to enhance their managerial skills, Tuition Assistance Program to help fund employees enrolled in higher education degree programs, as well as HeartShare University (HSU) that hosts workshops, taught by employees for employees, for the purpose of professional advancement and personal growth.
